• Tips: Cleaning Your LCD Screen Safely

    In the era that has all modern and advanced, using the LCD screen instead of the conventional tube screen is the option that already commonplace and starts to peep people. Besides being physically LCD screens may seem compact, lightweight and eye-catching than the tube screen, from the economical aspect is also very helpful because the LCD screen is not wasteful of electrical power just like his elder brother, a monitor with conventional tube technology.
    However, in contrast to the conventional tube screen made of glass material and thickness, the LCD is made of material that is thin and easily broken. Devices that use LCD technology (including laptops, LCD monitors, LCD TVs), it needs special attention in handling, especially when we want to clean the surface of the screen from dust or dirt is stubborn, be extra careful because it is quite risky. One little, the LCD can be permanently scratched or even the worst: broken.

    1. Prepare a solution of special perbersih LCD screen (you can buy at computer stores in the form of LCD cleaner kit).
    2. If you have trouble getting the LCD cleaner kit, the other alternative is to use the purified water. But if the LCD screen to be cleaned is very dirty already in its early stages, it is recommended to mix this with the purified water and white vinegar (comparison 50:50) to be more effective.
    3. Prepare a very soft cotton cloth or shirt / T-shirts long. Try to get a piece of fabric wide enough, because it will help reduce the risk of leaving spots on the screen due to finger pressure.
    4. Turn off the laptop, computer or TV before cleaning your LCD screen.
    5. Soak a cloth in the cleaning fluid, then wring it out completely for cloth damp but not wet.
    6. Wipe the LCD screen surface in the direction of movement (down) gently, not with a circular motion. Repeat this step until the screen looks free of debris.
    7. Dry the screen with a soft dry cloth.

    Important to note:

    * Do not use paper towels, tissues or napkins, because all these materials contain wood fibers that can scratch the screen.
    * Only use a soft cloth, dry and free of sewing thread, or a cleaner kit that is designed specifically for use on LCD screens.
    * Avoid using old cloth because it can leave dust or dirt.
    * Avoid using cleaning products such as “Windex” because it contains ammonia and can erode the screen.
    * Do not use products containing alcohol, ammonia, or other hard reacted solution. Also, do not use soap.
    * Do not spray liquid directly on the LCD screen.
    * Avoid using water piped or well water, especially if the water in your area contains many minerals.
    * Use just enough pressure when you wipe the LCD screen. DO NOT press hard or rub when cleaning the LCD screen.
    * If you are in doubt, start by trying to clean a small area of your LCD screen first.

     
  • Available Now! Google Maps Navigation for Android Devices in Australia

Free turn-by-turn navigation it’s finally available for them, the beta Google Maps Navigation for their Androids will be in the market and released on Wednesday. The biggest search engine according to iTWire already spread out news and invitations to press on Wednesday morning at Google’s Australian HQ where to be said that The Navigation platform will be revealed for the first time.  The Invites stated as follow: “What happened when your personal navigation device is powered by Google? We’d like to invite you to the launch of an exciting mobile update-Google Maps Navigation (Beta)”. Andrew Foster who is the Manager products for Google Maps, will reveal the main features of Google Maps Navigation (Beta). After the main revealing event there will also be discussions sessions for questions and answers. The 1 hour event frame will be divided into 2 sections: a demo of the Google Maps Navigation for 40 minutes and the second session for the discussions. The Google navigation specifications are features such as 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. Australia is by far the last country to have Google navigation. The first to enjoy the features are the Americans as it is launched for the first time in the US in October 2002. After the Americans, the users to be enjoyed are the Europeans that were added on June also this year. There has been reports that Google is conduction a cooperation with Apple that bring its Maps Navigation to iOS, even though the two big companies never said much anything about further progress or press release.

  • PHOTOS: The eruption of Merapi 2010 from Outer Space

    Merapi eruption did not escape the observation the United States Space Agency (NASA). Through technology Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite, captured image after the massive eruption of Merapi in the early hours ago 5 November 2010.

    In a picture taken 5 November 2010, looked Merapi shrouded in fog. Mount Merapi, which looks like the letter ‘V’, remove smoke to the west.

    According to data of the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre in Darwin, Australia, the smoke from the eruption of Merapi on 6 November 2010 rose to a height of 16 kilometers and extends 350 kilometers to the west and southwest.

    NASA’s second photograph taken on October 30, 2010, four days after the first eruption of Merapi. Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on NASA’s Terra satellite captures the signs of heat clouds wedhus trash, rocks on fire, and lava flows from the dome of Merapi.

    Thermal data were then in turn into three-dimensional map to show areas which are potentially deadly lava flowed.

    Not just this time NASA to monitor the activity of Merapi. NASA also recorded the activity of Merapi before and after the eruption last June 4, 2006. Through the ASTER on the Terra satellite, NASA aiming Merapi on 26 April 2006 and June 6, 2006.

    Not just NASA, the image of Merapi also recorded Ikonos satellite of the Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP), National University of Singapore (NUS).
